Brooke Air Technical FAQs

Product Application & Selection

Selection depends on the required airflow rate, throw, spread, noise level, and mounting position. Brooke Air provides detailed performance data on each datasheet to support accurate product selection. Our engineers can also perform selection calculations based on air volumes and room geometry.

A grille primarily directs airflow — supply or extract — through fixed or adjustable blades. A diffuser distributes air more evenly, promoting mixing and comfort across the occupied zone.

Ensure the terminal velocity and air temperature differential (Δt) are correctly balanced. Air velocity at occupant level should typically remain below 0.25 m/s in comfort applications. Proper diffuser placement and selection are key to achieving this.

Compatibility & Integration

Yes. Many diffusers and grilles are tested for stable airflow under varying volume conditions. Data for VAV performance and turndown ratios are available on request.
Yes. Brooke Air offers matching plenums in galvanised, aluminium, or stainless steel, with optional air volume control dampers and acoustic lining for enhanced performance.
Absolutely. We manufacture stainless steel and aluminium terminals with smooth, non-porous finishes that resist microbial growth and are suitable for hygienic applications such as hospitals and laboratories.

Finishes & Materials

Standard options include polyester powder coating (any RAL colour), anodised aluminium, and natural or brushed stainless steel. Specialist finishes — such as antimicrobial coatings, brass plating, or custom colour matching — are available on request.

Yes. We use marine-grade and UV-stable polyester powders with chromate or zinc phosphate pre-treatment, suitable for outdoor or high-humidity applications.

Performance & Testing

All performance data is derived from tests in accordance with BS EN 12238 and BS EN 13182, ensuring accuracy in air diffusion and sound power measurement.

Yes. Each product includes sound power levels (Lw) and NC/NR ratings. Acoustic performance can be verified against specific project noise criteria when required.

Installation & Maintenance

Our Installation Guides detail correct fixing, alignment, and integration with ductwork and ceiling systems. Following these ensures designed airflow patterns and prevents air leakage.

Regular cleaning of blades and cores helps maintain performance. Many models feature removable or hinged cores for easier cleaning and maintenance access.

Sustainability & Compliance

Yes. The use of recyclable materials, UK-based manufacturing, and sustainable processes supports BREEAM and LEED compliance in areas such as materials and responsible sourcing.

We operate under an ISO 9001-accredited quality management system, ensuring full traceability, consistent quality, and adherence to environmental and material compliance standards.

Bespoke & Project-Specific Enquiries

Yes. We specialise in custom fabrication, including curved, angled, and shaped grilles and diffusers. Our engineering team works directly with designers and contractors to achieve precise aesthetic and performance goals.

Yes. We provide phased delivery options, room-by-room labelling, and technical support to ensure efficient site coordination and smooth installation sequencing.
